Go and open the door!

Hi Gerard,

This month, we're inspired to take a leaf out of the book of Bealtaine, the Irish festival celebrating creativity in older age. Participants in 2009 (and there were over 55,000 last year, making it one of the country's biggest art festivals) are invited to 'Go and open the door!' and discover hidden talents.

This is no time to hide your light. In this month's Brandwidth, we feature a number of events that coax, cajole or egg us on to shine brightly.  Check out one of Bealtaine's hundreds of events across the country or step along to Confidence In Action, a hands-on conference aimed at helping us navigate our way through troubled times. If you're working in hospitality, don't just grin and bear it, bring your face to our Smile Conference, which tackles the hottest topics in sales and marketing for this sector.

Meanwhile, our featured blog entry, Fluffed Lines, argues the importance of holding the branding line across all activities in your business (not just marketing) and we learn from Fallon's John King about the importance of Brand Generosity.

So, go on and open that door!

Gerard joins a great line-up of speakers, including the legendary Louis Copeland, to help you map a course through these troubling times. Confidence In Action is aimed at those people and businesses who want help in answering some of the big questions posed in our economy so that they can take decisive action.

Attendance is complimentary but you're advised To Register » for individual seminars and events as places are limited.

Blog: Fluffed Lines

In sharp contrast to its excellent performance in recent advertising campaigns, Heineken badly fluffed its lines in the programme notes at Saturday's dramatic semi-final match between Munster and Leinster.

(Mind you, they weren't the only big name to stumble badly on the day).

Follow Through » on Gerard's recent blog post which tackles the failings of one of rugby's poster-boys full on.

Article: Brand Generosity

It's encouraging to read that one of Madison Avenue's leading lights is calling for brands that 'help build ideas in the world; they leave something behind'. We find this approach is second nature to many of the small business owners we work with, so it's great to see it make its way to the big shop-windows of the world.

For more on building a brand with a big heart and broad shoulders, Open Up » to John King's call to brand generosity.
